GETTING USED OYSTER SHELLS AT OYSTHERS
We get this question all the time: “what do you do with your oyster shells?”
Oyster shells are a great reusable source for chickens, gardening, crafts, landscaping, and more! We as owners use them in our driveways, garden beds and most recently to create our Oyster Shell Patio. We also do oyster shell craft nights in November and December at the bar.
We are happy to share our shells with others, please read on to learn how you can get some:
We ask that you bring your own vessel to put shells in (a bucket, bag, container, etc) you may absolutely not take our orange crates that we use to store shells in.
We ask that you make a small donation to our annual Morse High School Scholarship fund. This can be done by leaving cash at the register or venmoing @oysthers (3950 last digits, Sadia Crosby)
We do not hold shells for anyone, if you come and there are no shells, please try again another time. With that being said, we almost always have crates of shells, especially in the busy summer months.
When you get to the restaurant, please inform a staff member that you are there to get shells and they will point you in the right direction. Please don't go to the back and take them without checking in, as it may alarm staff and guests. Again, we ask that you leave a small donation for our scholarship fund and bring your own bucket. The shells come “as is” meaning they may smell or still have meat debris in them. Please do not pick shells off our oyster shell patio, only take shells that are in the orange crates. You may only come during opening hours, please do not come after hours to take shells.
